This is the organization of an Advanced Placement (AP) Biology course I taught through Canvas. AP Biology is a course for high school seniors. It has eight units designated by the College Board in preparation for the AP exam students take to earn college credit. Although there are some requirements for the laboratory activities and concepts that have to be covered for students to be successful on the AP exam, selection of content delivery and development of assessments are left to the discretion of the instructor. During virtual learning due to the pandemic, I built this in the Canvas Learning Management System. This was the first year of using Canvas as we had used Google Classroom prior to the switch to remote learning.

This is an example of my course organization through Canvas. I created a module for introductory information and for each of the eight units.

This is an example of my content organization within one of the units in Canvas. For some of the assignments, I utilized materials I had from previous years but for the virtual laboratory activities, I used virtual laboratory activities, such as the Gizmos on Explorelearning.com. I recorded lectures using Google Slide or Powerpoint presentations using Screencastify and Camtasia.
